Our Hero
All about Andrea, our founder
Andrea Crawford was born to rescue. She grew up on a wildlife sanctuary with 1200 acres dedicated to saving all sorts of critters in need. She got her first round of rabies shots at 5 years old after a run in with a prickly resident. She hasn't looked back since. Her parents had an affinity for the broken and behaviorally challenged. They rescued everything from dogs to a TIGER from Mexico! This led them to founding the Missaukee Humane Society in Northern Michigan.
As Andrea grew, so did her passion for rescuing the broken and forgotten. She worked for many rescues through the years. She always had a soft spot for the dogs that were often deemed unadoptable by some of the bigger rescues. She would sneak them out and pay for their care with her own money. At long last, she realized if she just started her own rescue, she could give all the time, effort, and love that these loving souls needed. The rescue community responded, and regularly calls her to be their angel on the toughest cases. She is forever grateful to the Veterinarians, Sponsors, Adopters and everyone else that has helped her achieve her mission.
